As of the evening of September 23, the Russian army attacked the positions of Ukrainian forces 89 times, with the most activity observed in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

According to the General Staff, border areas in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from Russian artillery shelling. Today, the settlements of Sosnivka, Bachiivsk, Mezenivka, Oleksandrivka, and Novomykolaivka were affected.

Additionally, the Russian forces conducted airstrikes with guided aerial bombs on the settlements of Bunyakine, Richky, Volfyn, Hirky, Svoboda, Bruskiv, Nova Sloboda, Budivelske, and Bondarivka.

Furthermore, today Russian aviation dropped three guided aerial bombs in the Kursk region of Russia. The invaders also fired upon their own region using multiple launch rocket systems and cannon artillery.

Situation in the directions

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops launched an assault on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Lyptsi once.

The enemy attacked our positions four times in the Kupiansk direction. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy assaults near Hlushkivka and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman direction, enemy units continue to attack in the areas of the settlements of Cherneshchyna, Druzhelyubivka, Nevske, Makiivka, Dibrova, and Torske. Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian soldiers have repelled six enemy attacks in this direction, with six more clashes ongoing.

Near Fedorivka in the Siversk direction, our defenders successfully repelled one attack from the enemy.

With the support of assault aviation in the Kramatorsk direction, the invaders conducted four attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces near Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Bila Hora, and Predtechyne, with fighting continuing near the last location.

In the Toretsk direction, actively employing assault and bomber aircraft, the enemy conducted 13 attacks. They struck the settlements of Shcherbynivka, Virolyubivka, and Kostiantynivka with guided aerial bombs, attacking near Dachne, Toretsk, and Nelipivka. Our defenders are giving a worthy response, stopping five attacks while seven clashes continue.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russia has made 18 attempts to attack our defenders in the areas of Vozdvizhenka, Hrodivka, Orlivka, and Marynivka. The Defense Forces are holding back the enemy's offensive, and all attacks have been repelled.

Twelve clashes occurred in the Kurakhove direction, where the invaders attempted to advance in the areas of Tsukuryne, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Katerynivka. Four battles are still ongoing.

In the Vremivka direction, Russia launched four offensives against the positions of Ukrainian troops near Vuhledar and Pavlivka, where fighting is currently taking place.

In the Orikhiv direction, the Russian army attacked near Nova Andriivka, but the assault was successfully repelled, and the situation remains under control.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, two enemy attacks have been repelled.

"The enemy is not conducting active operations in other directions at this time," the General Staff added.

Situation on the frontline and Russian losses

According to the General Staff, during the past day, September 22, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 162 combat engagements in various directions. The most intense fighting took place in the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions.

Over the last day, from September 22 to 23, Russia lost 1,330 soldiers on the frontline, as well as 16 tanks, 30 armored fighting vehicles, 81 artillery systems, and other equipment.
