Russia attacks Ukraine with drones and missiles overnight: Air defense's work reported
On the night of August 20, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles of various types and kamikaze drones, according to the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk.
"Last night, Russia attacked Ukraine with two ballistic missiles from Voronezh region, a cruise missile from Bryansk region, guided missiles from the airspace of Kursk and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as attack drones from several regions of Russia.
A total of 30 Russian targets were detected:
- 2 Iskander-M/KN-23
- 1 Iskander-K
- Kh-59
- 26 Shahed drones
Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 28 Russian air targets. These included one Iskander-K cruise missile, two Kh-59 guided missiles, and 25 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs in Kyiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
Russian attacks on Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russia has been systematically shelling Ukraine using attack drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Border settlements are being hit by guided aerial bombs and artillery.
Thus, on the morning of August 20, an air alert was issued in several regions of Ukraine. There were warnings of ballistic missiles.
Russia attacked Kyiv with Shahed drones and cruise missiles like Iskander-K. Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed all Russian targets.
Explosions were also heard in the Khmelnytskyi region. Russian drones were spotted flying over the region.
