The Russian army attacked the railway infrastructure with a drone in the Donetsk region. A train driver was injured, reports the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways).

"Proposals for a ceasefire are ignored, and enemy attacks on railway infrastructure and rolling stock continue: today, once again, an enemy UAV attacked a civilian freight train in the Donetsk region," Ukrzaliznytsia informs.

According to preliminary information, as a result of the strike on the locomotive, the train driver sustained a shrapnel wound to the leg. His life is currently not in danger; the railway worker received prompt assistance and was hospitalized.

The company noted that despite the dangers of working near the front line, Ukrzaliznytsia train drivers continue to do their jobs. However, security measures have been increased — Ukrzaliznytsia employees work in bulletproof vests and helmets, equipped with medical kits to provide first aid.

Shelling of railway infrastructure

During a massive attack on April 24 across Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia workers were injured. Two railway workers were wounded — a conductor in Zhytomyr and a train driver in Kyiv.

And in early January, drone debris damaged Ukrzaliznytsia’s contact line network.

Earlier, we reported that on the night of May 4, the Russian army launched a massive drone strike on Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. The strikes hit the territory of a construction base.
