Russia attacks Kharkiv with missiles: 10 strikes recorded, casualties reported
On May 23, Russia struck Kharkiv. There were at least ten explosions, and there were injuries, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
"An explosion in Kharkiv. Stay in shelters!" Syniehubov writes.
In his turn, the mayor of Kharkiv confirmed the explosion and asked people to be careful.
"There was an explosion in Kharkiv. Be careful - more attacks on the city are possible," Terekhov says.
Number of explosions growing
Later, the mayor warned of three explosions in Kharkiv. Local media reported a series of five explosions.
"At least five strikes were carried out by the Russian occupiers," the head of the UIA later wrote.
According to Terekhov's latest data, about ten explosions were heard in the city.
Consequences of Russian attack: Victims in Kharkiv, Zolochiv, and Liubotyn
At 11 a.m., the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration said that the Russian occupiers had struck Kharkiv about 10 times. Civilian infrastructure was under massive fire.
"According to preliminary data, five civilians were injured. The Russian occupants also attacked Zolochiv, at least two people were injured," he notes.
According to him, medics also assisted two more wounded as a result of enemy shelling in Liubotyn.
In addition, according to Terekhov, in Kharkiv, Russia hit the transport infrastructure and one of the units of the municipal enterprise engaged in life support of the city. Other consequences are currently being investigated.
Death toll and number of injured in Kharkiv growing
The Russian occupiers also attacked a civilian printing company.
"Preliminary, one person was killed and six people were injured. There is a fire in the paper shop," adds Syniehubov.
According to Terekhov, the body of another dead man was found at the site of another Russian missile strike. Another person was wounded and taken away by an ambulance. As of 11:30 a.m., there are 7 wounded and two killed in Kharkiv.
Air alert in Ukraine
On May 23, an air alert was declared in some regions of Ukraine. At the moment, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, and Vinnytsia regions remain on red alert.
The Ukrainian Air Force has warned of a threat of ballistic missile attacks on the northeastern and eastern regions from Russian Belgorod. At the same time, the air alert in Kyiv and Poltava regions is related to the work of air defense against a reconnaissance UAV.
