Russia has carried out an attack on civilian ships in the waters of Ukrainian ports again. An enemy drone struck the area, according to Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba.

According to him, the enemy drone hit a Panama-flagged tanker that was waiting to enter the port to load vegetable oil.

As a result of the strike, one crew member was injured. He is receiving necessary medical assistance. Maritime rescue services are working at the scene, and efforts are ongoing to extinguish the fire on board the ship.

Another ship was also attacked

In addition, a civilian ship under the flag of San Marino, leaving the port with a cargo of corn, was targeted. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, and the ship continues its journey.

"This is further proof that Russia deliberately attacks civilian ships, international trade, and maritime safety. Despite constant terror from the aggressor, Ukraine continues to operate its ports and fulfill its international obligations," Kuleba wrote.

Data from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority confirmed that two civilian ships, under the flags of Panama and San Marino, were hit by enemy drones.

According to the Authority, there are casualties among the crews, all of whom are receiving medical care. Both ships were either in port or heading out of it with cargoes of oil and corn.

All relevant services are working at the scene.

Attacks on civilian vessels

On December 13, Russian forces attacked the Turkish civilian ship VIVA, which was transporting sunflower oil from Ukraine to Egypt. The drone strike occurred in the open sea within Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone, outside the reach of Ukrainian air defenses. Eleven Turkish citizens were on board.

Additionally, on January 7, Russia attacked two ports in the Odesa region, resulting in two deaths.

On January 9, the Russian army struck civilian ships near Ukrainian ports. A Syrian citizen was killed.
