Attacks on Kharkiv and the region
Kharkiv and the surrounding region face daily attacks by Russian forces using various types of weapons due to their proximity to the front line.
On the night of October 6, Russian drones launched a massive strike on one of Kharkiv’s districts, leaving over 20,000 residents without electricity.
According to authorities, roughly 15 hits targeted the regional center, with the enemy aiming at energy facilities.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that in just the past few days, Russian forces destroyed two transformer substations that supplied electricity to the city.
He emphasized that this dealt a serious blow to the capacities of AT Kharkivoblenergo (an electricity company that focuses on power generation and distribution in the Kharkiv region - ed.), and given the regularity of the attacks, the coming winter could become the most challenging for the city since the start of the war.
Earlier, on the night of October 1, the enemy struck Kharkiv and the region with guided aerial bombs and missiles, causing fires in shopping pavilions, destruction, and injuries to civilians.
