Russia aims to expand foothold in Ukraine's Sumy region - Border Guard Service reveals new tactics

The Russian army is attempting to expand its foothold in the Sumy direction, intensifying infantry assaults, stated the State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko.
According to him, the enemy is currently not using military vehicles in this area. Instead, it is deploying small infantry assault groups with the goal of infiltrating Ukrainian territory and expanding the zone of active combat.
"Unfortunately, we are witnessing the enemy expanding its foothold. Although the enemy is suffering heavy losses, with dozens killed and wounded every day, it is ignoring its losses. It continues to send soldiers to our border in an attempt to shift the fighting zone into our country," Demchenko said.
The situation in Sumy region
A few days ago, Demchenko stated that the enemy continues to send infantry to the Yunakiv and Khotin communities in the Sumy region. In particular, the Russian forces are trying to expand the entry zone.
Today, June 5, he reported that the Russian army is actively using aviation in the Sumy direction. In particular, the attacks are accompanied by attempts to break through using small assault groups.
As part of the summer-autumn campaign, the enemy's priorities at the front will be as follows:
- advancing in the Donetsk region. The main battles will take place in the areas of Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, and Kostiantynivka.
- advancing in the Ukrainian border area, particularly in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
