Rubio: Russia is interested in energy ceasefire with Ukraine

Russia has expressed interest in a ceasefire with Ukraine that would include a limited halt to mutual strikes on energy infrastructure, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on OAN.

Rubio said Russia was ready for a partial ceasefire following his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"Both sides have expressed an interest in some limited ceasefire that involves energy," he said.

The politician also noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had publicly spoken about Ukraine's readiness for such an agreement.
The secretary of state acknowledged that reaching a deal would not be easy. However, he said such a ceasefire could partially reduce global tensions.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met in New York on September 23.
In addition, US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in New York on September 22. The leaders discussed, among other things, the terms of an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
