Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may attend the G20 summit if he receives a corresponding invitation from his American counterpart, Donald Trump, states US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Journalists asked Rubio whether the US administration plans to invite Zelenskyy to the G20 summit, scheduled for December 14–15 in Miami.

Importantly, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has already received an invitation to the event.

In response, the US Secretary of State emphasized that the decision regarding the Ukrainian leader’s participation rests with President Donald Trump.

"That's a leaders-level meeting that would be up to the president to decide. I wouldn't rule it out. I think the president ... especially if something positive could happen as a result of him attending," Rubio stated.

He also made it clear that a final decision on this matter has not yet been made.

In September, the US invited the head of the Kremlin to the December G20 summit in Miami, where he could potentially meet with US President Donald Trump.

Afterward, Zelenskyy called on Putin to hold a personal meeting during this political event, but the Russian president declined.

Trump himself had previously stated that he did not know whether the Russian president would agree to a trilateral meeting with Zelenskyy in Miami.

Incidentally, on October 31, Marco Rubio stated that Trump and Putin are arranging new negotiations.

Also, Trump recently announced an imminent meeting with Zelenskyy and Putin.

Furthermore, the US president made a new statement regarding the end of the war in Ukraine.
