Romanian Senate approves transfer of Patriot system to Ukraine
The upper house of the Romanian Parliament, the Senate, approved a government bill to transfer a Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine, Digi24 reports.
According to reports, 101 Romanian senators voted in favor of the government bill to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine, 13 voted against, and two abstained.
The Chair of the Defense Committee of the Romanian Senate, Nicoleta Pauliuc, expressed hope that by the end of this week, the bill would also pass the lower house—the Chamber of Deputies, which has the final say in passing legislation.
She also noted that the transfer of the Patriot missile defense system "does not mean that Romania will be left without protection," as Bucharest has seven more such systems, two of which are already in operation, another two have been adopted, and three more are expected to arrive soon.
