Romanian President Nicușor Dan said that at present, the country is "unlikely” to support a no-fly zone over Ukraine. But he did not rule out revising this position depending on how the situation develops, according to Agerpres.

According to Dan, Romania has held initial discussions with representatives of the national government, advisers, the military, and foreign policy experts.

"At the moment, probably not. But depending on how the situation develops, we may reconsider our decision. There are international norms regarding what it means to be in a state of conflict or not. And on this issue, according to certain interpretations of the majority, it means, to a certain extent, entering into conflict," the president said.

Backstory

Last week, two dozen Russian drones entered Polish airspace. Air defense and aviation forces managed to shoot down only four of them.

After the drone incident, Poland raised the issue of creating a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

Recently, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia would regard a NATO no-fly zone over Ukraine as a declaration of war.
