Romania prepares new military aid package for Ukraine - Zelenskyy
On Tuesday, May 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis. Romania is preparing a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, according to Zelenskyy.
"I had a conversation with Klaus Iohannis and thanked Romania for its support, especially for the new military aid package being prepared," Zelenskyy said.
He also informed Iohannis about the current situation on the battlefield and Ukraine's key defense needs, particularly for various types of air defense systems.
Additionally, the presidents agreed to expedite joint work on a bilateral security agreement.
“I am grateful to President Johannis for confirming his participation in the Peace Summit, and for his willingness to make efforts to encourage the participation of other countries,” Zelenskyy added.
Assistance to Ukraine from Romania
Since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion, Romania has been providing Ukraine with military and humanitarian assistance.
In particular, Romania has become one of the key countries where Ukrainian pilots are trained on F-16 fighter jets.
In January, Ukraine began negotiations with Romania on a security guarantees agreement.
