On the night of November 11, Romania placed its air defense systems on alert due to a massive Russian drone attack on Ukrainian ports along the Danube, the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported.
According to the ministry, radar systems detected the movement of a group of drones in an area adjacent to Romanian airspace. This prompted the activation of air defense systems in a preventive manner. Due to unfavorable weather conditions in the southeastern part of the country, Air Police fighter jets were unable to take off.
In the northern part of Tulcea County, the population alert system was also activated during the night, as a "large number of explosions" were recorded on the Ukrainian side of the Danube.
"At 01:09, the Romanian Ministry of Defense was informed about the impact of an aerial vehicle with the ground in the Grindu area, approximately 5 kilometers south of the border. Military teams were dispatched to the site and reported the possible presence of drone debris. The area is secured, and searches will be carried out early in the morning," the Romanian Ministry of Defense said.
