Russia is trying to intensify its assault activity on the frontline, but is only suffering greater losses. In addition, Russian forces have missed their own deadlines in three regions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The head of state provided details of a report by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. It concerns the lack of success of the aggressor country on the frontline and the growing losses of its army.
"The situation on the frontline is currently quite tense — the Russian army is trying to intensify its assault activity. But this only leads to increased losses and does not disrupt our operations," Zelenskyy said.
He added that the aggressor country failed to achieve its set goals in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, as well as in the Donetsk region, and is postponing its deadlines.
"In the southern direction, our units continue to carry out assigned tasks — I thank every unit, every soldier, sergeant and officer for this," the president noted.
The head of state also said that he discussed tasks related to deep strikes with Syrskyi.
Situation on the frontline
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a planned offensive operation in the Oleksandrivske direction. In a short period, the Defense Forces have liberated more than 400 square kilometers of territory, advancing simultaneously in the Oleksandrivske and Huliaipole directions.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian troops have already managed to liberate almost the entire territory of Dnipropetrovsk region.
It is noted that the Air Assault Forces reported that during the counteroffensive in the Oleksandrivske direction, Ukrainian troops liberated nine settlements from Russian forces and cleared three more completely of the enemy.
Meanwhile, analysts from ISW note that successful counterattacks by Ukrainian forces on the southern front could disrupt Russia's plans for an offensive in the spring-summer period of 2026.
