Rheinmetall to supply Ukraine with modules for 155-mm artillery guns
Rheinmetall has signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to supply projectile charge modules for 155-mm artillery guns. The value of the order, placed in the fourth quarter of 2024, is about €9 million.
The contract provides for the supply of several tens of thousands of 155-mm metal charge modules of various types. They are to be delivered in January 2025.
“In modern artillery, projectiles and propelling charges are loaded separately in order to achieve different ranges,” Rheinmetall said.
Rheinmetall is one of the world's leading manufacturers of large-caliber ammunition and projectile systems.
Rheinmetall is currently Ukraine's most important partner in the defense industry in its defense struggle against Russian aggression.
During the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin, the company and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding to expand strategic cooperation. The agreement aims to identify and develop further areas for deeper cooperation between the Ukrainian defense industry and the Düsseldorf-based group.
In late October, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger announced that his company had opened its first plant in Ukraine. In total, four such plants will be built.
In November, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Rheinmetall was completing a second plant in Ukraine.
