After Russia's massive attack on Ukraine, the idea of peace talks should be abandoned. Instead, it is time to take decisive action. This includes arming the Ukrainian army without restrictions and imposing maximum sanctions on Moscow, says Republican Don Bacon.

Bacon responded to reports of Russian attacks on Ukraine over the past weekend.

"It is a time for honesty. Peace talks are having zero effect on Putin," Bacon emphasized.

According to him, the Kremlin continues its aggression to dominate Ukraine. It will not stop until it faces determined resistance.

"His goal is to dominate Ukraine & he won't stop until he realizes he cannot win," the congressman stressed.

Bacon called on the US and its allies to act uncompromisingly.

"The US & Allies must arm Ukraine to the teeth, sanction Russia to the max, & confiscate the $300B in overseas Russian assets," he said.

Notably, Bacon is one of the most consistent supporters of Ukraine among American lawmakers. Earlier this year, he published an article in The New York Times criticizing the Trump administration's overly soft stance toward Russia.

Additionally, Bacon took Ukraine's side during the conflict between Trump and Zelenskyy.

At the time, Trump claimed Zelenskyy's approval rating among Ukrainians was supposedly 4%. Later, he even called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections."

Bacon stressed that the US leader's statements about President Zelenskyy do not reflect the views of the entire Republican Party.

Russian attack on Ukraine

It should be noted that on the night of May 25, Russia launched one of the largest air attacks on Ukraine. It fired hundreds of drones and nearly 70 missiles.

During the attack, explosions were recorded in several regions of the country. These included Kyiv, Kharkiv, Konotop, Sumy, Ternopil, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Chernihiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

RBC-Ukraine compiled all the details of the combined Russian air attack on the night of May 25 in a separate report.
