Representatives from the United Kingdom and Germany will be present at the upcoming Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting on July 21 to include US, UK, Germany, NATO meeting. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will also join the session.

What is Ramstein

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), better known as the Ramstein format, brings together more than 50 countries working collectively to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities amid Russian aggression.

This format was initiated by the United States, with the first meeting held on April 26, 2022, at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany — which is where the name originates from.

Thanks to decisions made within the Ramstein format, the Ukrainian army has received a wide range of Western weapons, including HIMARS rocket systems, Patriot air defense systems, Leopard 2 and Abrams tanks, and other modern military equipment.

The previous meeting was held on June 4, and for the first time since the group was established, it did not include a US representative.

Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and instructed him to urgently finalize all necessary contracts for drones needed by Ukraine's Defense Forces
