Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation. They discussed the US-Israeli operation against the Iranian regime, according to TASS.
Pezeshkian thanked Putin for "Russia’s solidarity with the Iranian people" and briefed him on the course of the conflict.
The head of the Kremlin, in turn, cynically stated the "need to end hostilities in the Middle East and return to the path of diplomatic resolution."
The Russian President also expressed "condolences" over the elimination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the "numerous civilian casualties" caused by "Israeli-US aggression against Iran."
Putin and Pezeshkian agreed to continue contacts through various channels.
Rumors of Russian military assistance to Iran
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi hinted that military cooperation between his country and Russia continues even amid the war with the US and Israel.
According to The Washington Post, Moscow may be secretly providing Tehran with information on the locations of US military facilities.
The outlet notes that the accuracy of Iranian strikes on American targets serves as evidence of this.
