Russia may continue providing military support to Iran even after the start of the US-Israel operation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with NBC News.

When asked about support from Russia and China, these countries back Iran "politically and in other ways." However, his remarks on the military aspect of relations with Moscow drew the most attention.

"Military cooperation between Iran and Russia is not a secret. We have worked with each other in the past, and that has continued and will continue, I guess," Araghchi said.

When asked whether Russia is currently providing active military assistance amid the war, the Foreign Minister was evasive.

"They have always helped us. I'm not going to give details of our cooperation with other countries right in the middle of the war," Araghchi said.

Russia as Iran’s ally

It was through Iran that Russia obtained Shahed kamikaze drones, which it has been actively using to strike civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

In addition to direct deliveries of finished drones, Iran has helped localize drone production within Russia, including at a factory in the Alabuga special economic zone in Tatarstan.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was aware of Israel’s plans to strike Iran but took no action.

Journalists note that Russia limited itself to verbal criticism of the actions of Israel and the United States.
