Putin's conditions regarding Ukraine are not acceptable - Trump
Former US President and current candidate for America's presidency, Donald Trump, described Putin's peace proposal regarding Ukraine as unacceptable, according to his debates with US President Joe Biden.
"No, they are not acceptable. Look, this is a war that never should have started if we had a leader," Trump said in response to a leading debate question about whether he finds Vladimir Putin's conditions acceptable after the end of the war in Ukraine.
At the same time, he did not specifically answer whether he would agree to Russia keeping the occupied parts of Ukraine if it ends the war.
Trump asserted that he could have ended the war before even entering the presidency.
"I will have that war settled between Putin and Zelenskyy as president-elect," Trump declared.
He also stated that Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if America had been led by a politician whom the Russian President respected.
"If we had a real president, a president that knew that was respected by Putin, he would have never invaded Ukraine," the US presidential candidate said.
Additionally, Trump reiterated his previous statements that Europe spends much less on supporting Ukraine compared to the US. However, he did not specify whether he would oppose Ukraine's accession to NATO.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine, together with its partners, must prepare a plan to end the war within months.
