During the negotiations in Istanbul, Russia handed over its memorandum on ending the war to Ukraine. The document consists of two parts, states the head of the Russian delegation, aide to the Russian President, Vladimir Medinsky, according to TASS.

According to Medinsky, the first part of the memorandum outlines Moscow’s position on how to achieve a "genuine long-term peace."

"The second part describes what steps need to be taken to enable a full ceasefire. Moreover, this section includes options — one way or another," he added.

The Russian official noted that the memorandum was "fairly detailed and thoroughly prepared," which is why Ukrainian officials decided to study it.

"They’ll review it and respond — we’ll see," Medinsky stated.

Russia’s memorandum

Following the first round of negotiations in Istanbul, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he was ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum outlining a possible peace agreement.

In particular, the Kremlin leader suggested that such a memorandum could include provisions for a ceasefire.

On June 2, RBC-Ukraine sources reported that Russia had handed over its memorandum to Ukraine through Türkiye.
