The Russian President Vladimir Putin made yet another cynical statement regarding the end of the war. He claimed that Russia is supposedly "determined to end the war," which, according to Putin, was "started by the West using Ukraine’s hands," according to an interview the Kremlin leader gave to Indian media, cited by Russian propagandists.
In particular, Putin did not just refuse to acknowledge that Russia is the aggressor and attacked Ukraine. The Russian President brazenly claimed that it is supposedly the Western countries that are "to blame" for the war.
"Russia is determined to end the war that the West started against it using Ukraine’s hands," he stated.
Peace plan and Putin’s 'wish list'
In the same interview, Putin openly fantasized that Russia will "in any case" seize the Donbas, as well as the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine. The President cynically claimed that Kyiv supposedly "chose to fight."
He also stated that he had rejected some of the US peace proposals regarding Ukraine, while noting that the American peace plan now has 27 points divided into four packages. This claim is confirmed by media reports: the peace plan for Ukraine is indeed divided into four packages, but only one of them directly concerns Ukraine.
Putin became so bold after Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, together with the US president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, flew to Moscow on December 2. There, they spent five hours discussing the US peace plan, which had been updated by Ukraine and Europe.
After the meeting, Putin’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, stated that no compromise had yet been reached, but work was ongoing. Following this, the dictator’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov claimed that the Kremlin had supposedly not rejected the US proposals.
