Ukraine awaits signals from the US
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that after the Kremlin talks conclude, the American side will inform Ukraine of the results. The outcome of the meeting will determine the next steps on the path to peace.
Additionally, media reports indicate that after Russia, Witkoff and Kushner will travel to Europe to meet with Zelenskyy. When asked about the likelihood of a meeting with Witkoff in the coming days, the Ukrainian leader said it will depend on the results of the Kremlin negotiations.
US peace plan: what is known so far
Information about the US peace plan first appeared in the media in November, describing a 28-point document. Reports also suggested that Russia was involved in its development. The Ukrainian delegation held several rounds of talks with the US — in Geneva and Miami — where both sides worked to align the document. This is the version of the plan Witkoff is expected to present to Putin.
As Zelenskyy stated today, the plan now consists of 20 points. According to him, the most sensitive issues are territory, Russia's frozen assets, and security guarantees.
