Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with military leadership regarding the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, according to Russian media.
Putin stated that Russian forces "continue to carry out war tasks and are advancing confidently across the entire front."
He also ordered his troops to continue combat operations to achieve all objectives.
"Commanders of the group of forces must continue to carry out tasks in strict accordance with the plan of the special military operation," he said during the briefing on the situation at the front.
In addition, Putin cynically added that the "strategic initiative" on the front "is entirely in the hands of the Russian army."
US peace plan
Negotiations between Ukraine and the US on a peace agreement to end the war have been ongoing until recently. Recently, US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, along with the US leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner, visited Moscow. In the Russian capital, they met with Putin to discuss the points of a peace agreement regarding Ukraine.
The Kremlin stated that during the meeting, Witkoff and Putin discussed only general approaches and territorial issues, without a detailed review of the American initiative.
According to Bloomberg, Ukraine and the United States have so far been unable to align their positions on the territorial issue. Sources told the outlet that Washington allegedly seeks to persuade Kyiv to make concessions on the Donbas, but the Ukrainian side firmly rejects these proposals.
On December 10, Ukraine sent the Trump administration a detailed, step-by-step response to the latest version of the US peace plan. The Ukrainian side included comments and proposals for amendments, which, among other things, concern the status of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and temporarily occupied territories.
