There is currently no phone call between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump on Putin's schedule, Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said, as reported by TASS.
Ushakov said that although a dialogue is not currently planned, it can be easily arranged if necessary.
"As soon as there are prerequisites for contact between Putin and Trump, everything will be organized quite quickly," the Russian outlet wrote, citing the president's aide.
Ushakov also made several additional statements:
-
The Kremlin is now waiting for a reaction from its American counterparts following the discussion that took place on Tuesday between Putin and the US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff;
-
The date of a new meeting with Witkoff has not been determined;
-
The one-on-one conversation between Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday lasted more than 2.5 hours.
Talks in Moscow
In recent days, negotiations took place in Moscow between Putin and an American delegation that included Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The dialogue was aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine.
Trump later said that his envoys had the impression that Putin wants peace, but noted that it is still unclear how events will unfold.
At the same time, the Kremlin stated that the parties failed to reach a compromise during the talks in Moscow. Ushakov said there are several points with which Russia can agree, but many aspects are unacceptable to Moscow.
