Putin holds war talks with Kim Jong Un before meeting with Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. This happened ahead of Putin's meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska, Bloomberg reports.
According to North Korea's state media, during the conversation on Tuesday, August 12, Putin thanked Kim Jong Un for supporting the war against Ukraine. The sides also "exchanged views on the issues of mutual concern."
In addition, the North Korean leader promised Putin to continue assisting in the war against Ukraine.
"Kim Jong Un expressed firm conviction that the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of North Korea - ed.) would always remain faithful to the spirit of the DPRK-Russia treaty and fully support all measures to be taken by the Russian leadership in the future," the media reported.
Trump-Putin meeting
US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin will meet on August 15 in Alaska.
On August 13, Trump will hold talks with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to ABC News, Zelenskyy will meet online on Wednesday with Trump and US Vice President JD Vance.
Putin, for his part, also called the leaders of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and on August 8 held a conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
