Last night, the Russian army used the largest number of drones against Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. This demonstrates that Russia is not willing to cease fire, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.

"The geography of the strike last night ranged from Chernihiv to Khmelnytskyi, from Kharkiv to Odesa regions. And this was the third night of combined Russian terror-attack drones and missiles," the President wrote.

According to him, only a sense of complete impunity can allow Russia to carry out such strikes and increase their scale.

"This does not make any significant military sense, but it does make significant political sense. In this way, Putin demonstrates how much he despises the world, which spends more effort on dialogue with him than on pressure," Zelenskyy said.

However, Zelenskyy believes that, like any criminal, Russia can only be put in check by force. After all, only through the strength of the United States, Europe, and other nations can we achieve a complete cessation of these strikes and real peace.

"The increase in Russian strikes should be responded to by increasing sanctions. Russia's disregard for diplomacy and refusal to even cease fire must be met with blocking Russian finances and trade in Russian oil. I thank everyone in the world who is pushing this strong agenda. Russia must end its own war. And for this to happen, we need to deprive them of the resources to fight," the President emphasized.

Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine

Over the past three nights, the Russian army has been conducting massive combined attacks on Ukraine.

In particular, on the night of May 24, Russia launched a combined attack on Kyiv, using ballistic missiles and drones simultaneously. At that time, 14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 250 attack drones were fired at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense destroyed 6 Russian missiles and neutralized 245 drones.

Also on the night of May 25, Russians attacked 13 regions of Ukraine. Then Russia used dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as about 300 drones.

And on the night of May 26, Russia launched a record number of attack drones and cruise missiles at Ukraine.

Russia struck Ukraine with:

  • 9 Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft
  • 355 Shahed drones and various types of imitator drones.
