Putin calls leaders of six countries amid potential Trump meeting

Russian President Vladimir Putin managed to call the leaders of six countries on August 8 amid the possibility of meeting with US President Donald Trump, according to the Russian outlet The Bell and the Kremlin website.
It is known that Putin called Chinese leader Xi Jinping. He also discussed the potential meeting with Trump during a conversation with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
In addition to the leaders of Russia’s allied regimes, Putin called Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Prior to this, Putin spoke with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The outlet notes that on the Kremlin website, all conversations are described without much detail. The only one to elaborate on the Trump-Putin meeting was Lukashenko. He proposed Minsk as a venue for trilateral talks involving Trump, Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to media reports, Trump is indeed planning to meet with Putin as early as next week. This information has been confirmed by both Russian and Western media. After that, a trilateral summit in the format Trump-Zelenskyy-Putin may take place.
Putin himself said on August 7 that the meeting with Trump could happen in the United Arab Emirates. Experts believe it is unlikely that the Russian President will fly to Europe for negotiations. Other possible meeting locations are considered to be Rome, Minsk, or Türkiye.
