Russian President Vladimir Putin has been briefed that groups of Ukrainian soldiers are still present in the Kursk region, reports the Russian publication RBC.

The acting commander of the 810th Marine Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet, with the call sign Groza, briefed Putin on the situation in the Kursk region.

The brigade commander reported that Russian forces had allegedly secured positions on the streets of the village of Gornal, the liberation of which Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov had announced the day before.

He also noted that groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and individual Ukrainian soldiers are still present in the Kursk region.

"Displacement" of AFU from the Kursk region

Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, reported to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin about the alleged "liberation" of the Kursk region.

Notably, this statement came even though the AFU still controls dozens of square kilometers in the region.

Putin later also announced the supposed "complete defeat of the enemy" in the Kursk border area.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the defensive operation of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region continues, and the Kremlin is "presenting wishes as facts."

As of this morning, April 27, the Ukrainian forces control nearly 18 square kilometers in the Kursk region.
