Kremlin declares victory in Kursk region: What's really at stake?

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin announced the alleged "liberation" of the Kursk region on April 26. And this is despite the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces still control tens of square kilometers in this region, according to the Russian media.
Thus, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov reported to Kremlin President Vladimir Putin on the "completion" of the operation to liberate the Kursk region.
According to the Russian media, citing Gerasimov's report, the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly lost at least 75,000 troops and more than 400 tanks during the fighting in the Kursk border region.
It should be noted that according to the Deep State map, the Ukrainian Armed Forces still control about 30 square kilometers.

It should be noted that on the morning of April 26, the General Staff's report stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold the line in the Kursk sector.
Over the past 24 hours, the enemy carried out 28 air strikes and dropped 37 guided bombs, as well as fired 370 times, including 9 times from multiple launch rocket systems.
In turn, Ukrainian defenders repelled 30 assault attacks.
