President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will discuss ways to end the war with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague, states Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

According to him, the talks in The Hague with NATO leaders are focused on ensuring continued support for Ukraine, which needs air defense systems and weapons to protect itself from Russian aggression, as well as additional sanctions against Russia. These are precisely the issues that Zelenskyy is raising with leaders on the sidelines of the summit, Yermak noted.

"Everyone can see that Russia does not want to end this war. Therefore, additional pressure and painful sanctions are needed until Russia feels the high cost of all these crimes," Yermak stated.

He added that preparations are underway for a meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump. Yermak discussed this matter with Secretary of State Mark Rubio.

"The topics I mentioned — the most important thing for us is achieving concrete results, because the war is ongoing. We have seen that the world truly responds through strength. We saw this in relation to Iran. It is no coincidence that Iran is a partner of Russia — they are very much alike. That’s why I believe that peace through strength and bilateral relations will be the main focus," Yermak said.

Zelenskyy–Trump meeting

The first day of the NATO summit started in The Hague on June 24. During his meeting with Zelenskyy, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the final declaration of the summit would contain "important language" regarding Ukraine and its support.

Rutte also called for increased military investment and production.

Notably, earlier Axios, citing an anonymous source, reported that US President Donald Trump plans to meet with the President of Ukraine to discuss weapons supplies.

On June 24, the White House confirmed that the meeting may take place. The matter was discussed between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office Andriy Yermak.
