Presidential Office responds to rumors about summer elections

Rumors about Ukraine's preparations for the presidential elections in the summer of 2025 are “absolute nonsense.” First, the war with Russia must be ended, said the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
Yermak was commenting on an article by The Economist, which stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had allegedly begun preparations for the elections.
"Absolute nonsense. It is impossible to plan elections while hostilities are ongoing. First, we need to end the war - only then can we vote," the head of the Presidential Office emphasized.
Rumors about elections in Ukraine
Recently, The Economist reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly instructed to organize elections once a complete ceasefire is achieved. These elections could potentially take place as early as July 2025.
The outlet wrote that the first confirmation of the elections could occur on or just before May 5, the latest deadline for parliament to vote on extending the martial law, which expires on May 8. The cancellation of this provision is the first necessary step to begin the election process.
However, the Presidential Office stated that no organizational preparations for elections are being conducted in Ukraine. Currently, it is not even possible to safely organize the electoral process.
