Preserving lives first, retaking later if needed: Ukrainian Gen. Zaluzhnyi on Avdiivka defense
The Ukrainian army will defend Avdiivka with as much strength as possible, but if it's insufficient, it's crucial to preserve lives, states the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
"We don't need to fixate or stage any how or mourning near a specific settlement. Our actions are governed by their own laws, unaffected by whether it pleases deputies or journalists," he states.
Zaluzhnyi has mentioned the enemy's capability to concentrate their forces in a specific direction. He has added that within two to three months, they could accomplish what happened in Bakhmut.
"Every piece of land is valuable to us; we'll defend as much as we can. If we lack strength, we preserve our people, and then we'll regain," Zaluzhnyi declares.
The storming of Avdiivka
Russian occupiers intensified fighting in the Avdiivka area at the beginning of October, considered the most significant offensive since 2014.
According to White House data in mid-December, Russian terrorists suffered over 13,000 losses along the Avdiivka-Novopavlivka axis. Our soldiers destroyed more than 220 combat vehicles.
As Barabash previously mentioned, logistics remained the biggest problem for the city. Food and essential supplies were transported solely via one dangerous route.
