Russian forces carried out massive strikes on border settlements in the Chernihiv region. The power situation in some communities remains very difficult, according to the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration (OVA), Viacheslav Chaus.
According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, over the past day, Russian forces struck the Chernihiv region 44 times. Explosions were reported in 22 settlements.
"Enemy Shahed drones attacked an industrial enterprise in the Chernihiv district. A fire broke out at the impact site, which firefighters have already extinguished," he said.
Chaus clarified that the explosions heard by residents of Chernihiv the previous day were caused by strikes on an industrial area on the outskirts of the city. Most of the attacks, he added, targeted border settlements in the Chernihiv region.
"The power situation in some communities remains very difficult. Energy crews continue repair work. To charge phones, there are resilience points available, with such hubs set up in every community," the head of the OVA emphasized.
Attacks on Chernihiv and the region
Chernihiv region faces daily strikes by Russian forces, with the enemy regularly targeting energy and critical infrastructure using kamikaze drones.
In Chernihiv, on the evening of October 23, during an air raid alert around 9:30 p.m. Kyiv time, an explosion was heard when a Russian drone crashed in one of the city’s industrial areas.
Earlier, Russian forces hit several energy facilities and other infrastructure across the region. Nine settlements in three districts – Koriukivka, Nizhyn, and Pryluky – were affected.
On the evening and night of October 18, Russian drones struck the Pryluky district. The attack caused damage to one infrastructure facility and to the premises of a fire and rescue station.
