A part of occupied Crimea was left without electricity on Sunday, June 21, due to a Ukrainian drone attack. Residents are urged to save electricity, according to Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the Crimean occupation leader, and Krymenergo.
Krymenergo reported that power outage schedules have been introduced in Crimea. Part of the peninsula is without electricity.
There is no power in the temporarily occupied cities of Sevastopol, Alushta, Krasnoperekopsk, and Armiansk.
Online reports say that the power outage occurred after explosions from a Ukrainian drone attack, while the occupation authorities are attributing the blackout to damage to the power grid.
“Due to damage in the electrical networks, a partial disconnection of consumers in the northwestern, central, and southern coastal energy districts has occurred,” Krymenergo stated.
Emergency restoration work is currently underway.
“We ask residents of Crimea to limit electricity consumption during the elimination of the accident in the peninsula’s energy system. Turn off air conditioners and unnecessary electrical appliances,” Kryuchkov added.
Strikes on Crimea and the fuel crisis on the peninsula
The strikes targeted military logistics facilities, the oil industry, and the air defense systems at a distance of about 300 km from the front line.
Targets on both sides of the Crimean Bridge were hit: maritime logistics for oil transport in the Krasnodar region and an oil depot in temporarily occupied Kerch.
Military logistics facilities were also successfully hit, along with four radar stations that are part of S-400 air defense systems, as well as two Pantsir systems.
In temporarily occupied Crimea, fuel sales at gas stations are being completely suspended as of June 21 — both for cash and non-cash payments, and via coupons.
Sales are being halted for both individuals and legal entities.
Fuel will be supplied only to state services that ensure the vital functioning and security of Crimea.
Russia has also suspended ferry service to occupied Crimea following the drone attack on the night of June 21.
