In temporarily occupied Crimea, fuel sales at gas stations will be completely suspended starting June 21, for cash, cashless payments, and fuel vouchers alike, according to Crimea's Russian-installed leader, Sergey Aksyonov.
Sales are being suspended for both individuals and legal entities.
Fuel will only be supplied to state services that ensure the functioning and security of Crimea.
"All further decisions related to the situation on the republic's fuel market will be announced additionally," Aksyonov added.
According to Krymenergo, scheduled power outages have been introduced in Crimea. Part of the peninsula is without electricity. Social media reports say the power went out after explosions.
Fuel problems in Crimea
Fuel problems in Crimea began due to intensified strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Crimea-Donetsk corridor, which is a major logistics route. For transporting gasoline, the Russians currently have only the Crimean Bridge left, which significantly affects supply volumes.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been successfully striking Russian oil refineries. On May 28, Ukrainian forces hit the Tuapse oil refinery, one of the largest oil-processing facilities in southern Russia that produces fuel for the Russian army.
Overall, the fuel crisis in Russia is systemic in nature and is deepening under Ukrainian drone strikes.
Starting June 1, gasoline grades 92 and 95 in temporarily occupied Crimea began to be sold with significant restrictions. Priority was given to enterprise sales, while residents were limited to purchasing no more than 20 liters of 92-octane gasoline.
And today, Crimea was left without fuel.
