Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stated that Portugal's aid to Ukraine will reach 220 million euros in 2024. Lisbon intends to provide the same amount in 2025.

"This year alone, we estimate that we will reach a support volume of over 220 million euros, which will be repeated next year, all within the framework of the final settlement to be established at this summit," he said.

Montenegro also added that Portugal intends to reach 2% of budget spending on defense, which will be achieved a year earlier than expected, in 2029.

"This international coalition is also considering making a large financial contribution to military, humanitarian, political, and economic support for Ukraine," he noted.

Portugal's aid to Ukraine

Portugal has been providing significant support to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022.

In March 2023, three Leopard 2A6 tanks were delivered from Portugal to Ukraine. In April of the same year, the supply of five emergency and medical armored vehicles was announced.

In addition, the Portuguese company Tekever, which specializes in drone production, expressed its readiness to provide Ukraine with several of its long-endurance systems. These systems will support ground and naval operations.
