Polish PM addresses Nord Stream supporters: 'Apologize and keep quiet'
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reacted to the latest developments in the investigation into the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. He called on the supporters of both “streams” to apologize.
This Wednesday, August 14, it became known that Germany had issued an arrest warrant in Poland for a Ukrainian diver suspected of blowing up the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
Later, it was reported that he might have traveled from Poland to Ukraine. Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that Ukrainian officials were allegedly “involved” in the explosion.
At the same time, the next day, the website of the daily Die Welt published an interview with August Ganning, the former head of German foreign intelligence. He stated that the attack on the gas pipeline was probably supported by Poland. He added that Germany should consider demanding compensation from the Polish and Ukrainian authorities.
Tusk's reaction
“To all the initiators and patrons of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2. The only thing you should do today about it is to apologize and keep quiet,” the prime minister said.
Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, denied Ukraine's involvement in the operation in a commentary to Reuters.
Moreover, he reminded that there was enough evidence of Russia's involvement in the bombing.
The White House refused to comment on the WSJ article about Ukraine's “involvement” in the Nord Stream blowing up.
Last month, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that the investigation into the gas pipeline bombing was finally closed.
