Presidential Office denies involvement in Nord Stream pipeline explosions
Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, in a comment to Reuters, stated that Ukraine has nothing to do with the explosions at Nord Stream. It has not gained any strategic or tactical advantage from them.
The presidential advisor denied Ukraine's involvement in the explosions that damaged the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, instead pointing the finger at Russia.
"Such an act can only be carried out with extensive technical and financial resources ... and who possessed all this at the time of the bombing? Only Russia," Podolyak stated.
As Polish prosecutors said on Wednesday, Poland received a European arrest warrant issued by Berlin in connection with the attack; however, the suspect, a Ukrainian named Volodymyr Z, had already left Poland.
"Ukraine has nothing to do with the Nord Stream explosions," Podolyak said, adding that Ukraine did not gain any strategic or tactical advantage.
Russia has already accused the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine of the explosions, which significantly cut off Russian gas from the lucrative European market. These countries deny their involvement.
As the agency notes, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden have launched investigations into the incident, and the Swedes found traces of explosives on several objects retrieved from the explosion site, confirming that the explosions were intentional.
Background
