Polish FM: It is better that Russia, not Europe, pays for weapons for Ukraine

Russia should pay for American weapons for Ukraine, not European countries, states Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, according to PAP.
"I asked my fellow ministers who should pay for this (American — ed.) equipment. Whether it should be European taxpayers, or, in my opinion, it would be better if the aggressor paid for it from frozen funds (referring to Russia’s frozen assets — ed.)," Sikorski said.
He added that he is pleased that US President Donald Trump "has reached the same conclusions that the European Union countries have already reached."
"Namely, that Putin does not want peace. It is Ukraine that agrees to an unconditional ceasefire, and the only language Putin understands is the language of pressure," the Polish foreign minister noted.
Sikorski also hopes that the 50-day period until the possible introduction of American sanctions is time to increase pressure on Russia so that it finally comes to its senses.
Europe will pay for American weapons for Ukraine
Yesterday, July 14, the US and NATO concluded an agreement that provides for sending American weapons to Ukraine at the expense of European countries. Several countries have already agreed to make their contribution.
According to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, under the agreement, Ukraine may receive a huge number of air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition.
According to media reports, the US will not directly supply weapons to Ukraine. It is planned that NATO countries will provide the weapons from their own stocks and then replace the armaments.
Trump also announced that the shipment of 17 Patriot systems to Ukraine is being prepared. They will arrive in just a few days.
