Polish FM highlights Poland's role in Ukraine-Russia war
Poland does not consider deploying its military to Ukraine. Warsaw's role is to provide military aid to Ukrainian soldiers, stated Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, Rzeczpospolita reports.
As emphasized by the Foreign Minister, all matters concerning Ukraine must be discussed with the participation of Ukraine and Europe.
According to Sikorski, the idea of sending troops to Ukraine to support a ceasefire is preliminary.
"But one thing is clear: Poland shares a 600 km border with Belarus and Russia, we support the entire logistics operation for Ukraine, and perhaps that is our role, but we are not considering sending troops to Ukraine," the Minister added.
European troops in Ukraine
Recently, rumors have emerged in the media about the possibility of deploying a peacekeeping mission of European countries to Ukraine. This is possible if a ceasefire agreement is reached between Russia and Ukraine.
Notably, today, December 12, French President Emmanuel Macron was expected to discuss this issue during talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Following his meeting with Macron, Tusk assured that Poland does not currently plan to send its peacekeepers to Ukraine.
For her part, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna, noted that Ukraine is ready to consider hosting foreign troops on its territory.
