Ukraine open to talks on foreign military presence, Ukraine's Minister
Ukraine is ready to discuss anything that works, including deploying foreign military personnel on its territory, Politico reports, citing Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine - Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
During the interview, Stefanishyna was asked whether Kyiv could deploy foreign troops on its territory.
"Ukraine is ready to talk about anything that works," Ukraine's Minister replied.
Issue of sending troops to Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron was the first to raise the issue of sending troops to Ukraine, but this sparked a debate among Kyiv's partners. It soon became clear that it was not about sending troops for direct combat participation. At the same time, several of Ukraine's allies expressed their willingness to consider such a possibility. Among them were Latvia, Canada, Estonia, and Lithuania.
As Le Monde wrote, the UK and France had recently resumed discussions about sending troops to Ukraine. This is because of the risks surrounding Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election.
Today, December 12, Macron will visit Poland to discuss a European peacekeeping mission to preserve Ukraine's sovereignty.
