Polish farmers unblock Krakivets checkpoint, but queues remain
Polish farmers have unblocked the Krakivets checkpoint. However, there are approximately 1,700 trucks waiting in queues at the Polish-Ukrainian border, reports the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko.
"Polish farmers continue to block traffic. Currently, this is happening in five directions, while previously it was six," the spokesperson said.
Demchenko confirmed that Polish protesters have lifted the blockade at the Krakivets checkpoint. He added that farmers have already announced the resumption of protests in this direction, tentatively from March 13th.
According to the spokesperson, there are approximately 1,700 trucks waiting in queues in all directions.
"Of course, although the direction of the Krakivets checkpoint is unblocked, traffic there is intense, but there is still a queue of trucks on the Polish territory waiting to cross the border into our country. This is about 600 freight vehicles," he added.
It should be noted that yesterday Ukrainian border guards reported the possible unblocking of the Krakivets checkpoint.
Border blockade in Ukraine
Protests at the Polish-Ukrainian border resumed in February. Farmers are blocking checkpoints, and recently they started dumping Ukrainian grain. Poland promises to find those responsible.
In addition, Polish farmers also announced blockades at border crossings with Germany and Lithuania.
Recently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk claimed that negotiations are allegedly underway for the temporary closure of the border for goods exchange. However, Ukraine says they are not engaged in such negotiations.
