Poland to provide more Starlink terminals to Ukraine

Poland is increasing the number of Starlink terminals to ensure stable communication on the front lines. This step is crucial for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, informs Puls Biznesu.
Poland will soon increase the number of Starlink terminals provided to Ukraine to maintain communication during the war.
Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski, emphasized that this service is critically important for reinforcing Ukraine's defense capabilities.
By the end of 2024, Poland had supplied Ukraine with 24,400 Starlink terminals from Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX. In November 2024, a new batch of terminals was ordered and is gradually being delivered to Ukraine.
Poland loans the terminals, which helps avoid tax and legal complications. These terminals provide vital communication for the Ukrainian army at the front. The number of terminals fluctuates based on needs, and some have been destroyed in combat.
"Poland provides internet access to Ukrainian society and the army. Thanks to Starlink, Ukraine successfully holds the front," Gawkowski stated.
Polish support is particularly significant: the devices provided by Poland account for half of all operational Starlink terminals in Ukraine.
The cost of servicing and purchasing new terminals in 2024 amounted to 120.66 mln zlotys (nearly 30,6 mln USD), and for 2025, planned spending is 186.8 mln zlotys (over 47,3 mln USD).
Earlier, media reports suggested that the US allegedly warned Ukraine about a possible Starlink shutdown if it refused a deal regarding mineral resources. Poland has already responded to these rumors, stating that it was their country that signed the agreement, casting doubt on the possibility of its cancellation.
Additionally, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, stated that Starlink satellite internet continues to operate in Ukraine despite the alleged threats from the US. He also noted that alternative technologies are actively used on the front lines.
