Poland scrambles fighter jets as Russia launches overnight strikes on Ukraine

Poland and its allied countries scrambled fighter jets again on the night of July 19 in response to a Russian attack on Ukraine, reports the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported that, due to another attack by Russia on targets located on Ukrainian territory, air operations had begun in their airspace.
They noted that additional pairs of fighter jets were deployed. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were put on the highest alert level.
Poland's military command added that the measures taken were aimed at ensuring security in areas bordering threatened zones, that it was monitoring the situation, and that forces and equipment remained fully ready for immediate response.
Russian attack on Ukraine, July 19
Russia launched ballistic missiles and drones toward Ukraine, prompting a large-scale alert.
During the night in Kyiv, debris from a drone struck a residential building in the Darnytskyi district following the drone attack.
Explosions were also heard in Odesa. The Russian attack caused fires on several floors of a high-rise building.
One woman died, and several people were injured. Five people were rescued from the burning apartments.
