Poland's new President pledges stronger ties with Ukraine

Newly elected President of Poland Karol Nawrocki looks forward to a continued close partnership with Ukraine. He also emphasized the importance of addressing the complex historical issues between the two nations, according to Nawrocki's post on X.
"I am looking forward to countinue partnership of our countries, based on mutual respect and understanding. I believe it requires not only good dialogue but also solving overdue historical issues," Nawrocki responded to the congratulations from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He also stressed Poland's role as one of Ukraine's most committed allies in countering Russian aggression
"Poland has been Ukraine's strongest supporter against the Russian aggression, no other nation understands this threat more than we do," said Nawrocki.
The newly elected President of Poland expressed hope for continued joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
"I hope we’ll continue to work together for the common good, for settling the unsettled past and building safe future together," he emphasized.
Nawrocki wins Polish presidential election
The second round of Poland's presidential election took place on June 2. The winner was Karol Nawrocki, the candidate from the Law and Justice party.
Ahead of the runoff, Nawrocki agreed not to support Ukraine's accession to NATO in exchange for the backing of Sławomir Mentzen, the leader of the anti-Ukrainian Confederation party.
Today, it was reported that the current President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, plans to meet with Nawrocki to discuss his stance on Ukraine.
