Poland's downing of Russian missiles won't lead to NATO's participation in war - Ukraine's FM
Poland's interception of Russian missiles and drones flying toward its territory will not lead to NATO's involvement in the war. Ukraine needs NATO countries' support on this issue, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with Politico.
Kuleba mentioned that during today’s meeting of European foreign ministers, he would request the use of air defense capabilities in EU countries, particularly Poland, to protect parts of Ukraine's airspace.
"I don’t question the willingness of Poland to build up defensive mechanisms, they cannot do it on their own. We need partners to support them on this," the Foreign Minister said.
He emphasized that Poland's air defense system is integrated with NATO's system.
Kuleba said that the argument claiming NATO would be part of the war if Poland shot down Russian missiles or drones is invalid.
"You don’t enter the war by shooting down a missile or drone that flies in your direction and may actually inflict damage on your own territory," the minister said.
Poland shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine and Poland are developing a mechanism for Poland’s air defense to intercept Russian missiles and drones over Ukraine.
