Explosions rock Saratov oil refinery after Ukrainian strike

Overnight, Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Saratov oil refinery. Explosions were heard and a fire broke out, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On the night of August 10, the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with other units of the Defense Forces, struck the Saratov oil refinery in Russia, the Ukrainian military said.
According to the General Staff, after the UAV strike on the facility’s territory, explosions occurred and a fire started.
The plant is one of Russia’s key fuel infrastructure facilities, supplying petroleum products to Russian occupation forces. Its annual capacity is about 7 million tons of oil.The General Staff emphasized that strikes on Russia’s military and economic facilities are aimed at reducing the enemy’s potential and bringing the war to an end.
Attack on the Tuapse oil refinery
On the night of March 14, explosions were heard in Tuapse, Russia. Russian authorities reported a drone attack and a strike on the local oil refinery. A fire broke out at the facility.
It is worth noting that this is not the first attack on the Tuapse refinery. The plant was also targeted in November last year.
According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, this refinery is among the largest in Russia, with an annual processing capacity of about 12 million tons of oil. He stated that the facility has strategic importance for the Russian military as it supplies fuel to the Black Sea Fleet and military infrastructure in the country’s south.
