US President Donald Trump announced a meeting with dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Media reported that the participation of the head of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in the negotiation process is possible after the summit, according to CNN.

European leaders hastened to clarify the conditions of the negotiations and emphasized the need for Ukraine’s participation in the discussion of its future.

In the rural area of England, a hurried meeting took place between European officials and US Vice President JD Vance.

Representatives of several EU countries stated that they support Trump’s diplomatic efforts, however, they insist on a ceasefire before the start of any peace negotiations and on an active role for Kyiv.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is currently not included in the official list of participants of the summit in Alaska, which is scheduled for Friday.

Two CNN sources close to the US administration stated that the White House has not ruled out his possible participation in some separate meetings.

According to one of the officials, all issues regarding Zelenskyy will be decided after the bilateral meeting between Trump and Putin.

The summit was organized very quickly, so many details have still not been disclosed, including the exact location of the meeting.

The official noted that Trump is open to holding a trilateral summit with the participation of the President of Ukraine, but “the White House is planning a bilateral meeting, invited by President Putin.”

Trump–Putin talks on peace in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump announced a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15. Previously, the American leader had not ruled out the possibility of exchanging territories between the states.

The publication WSJ wrote that at the meeting, Putin may put forward to Trump an ultimatum — to recognize the occupied territories of Ukraine as Russian in exchange for the withdrawal of the aggressor’s troops from other districts and regions.

At the same time, the leaders of EU countries and Ukraine put forward their own proposal for a peaceful settlement for the negotiations between the American and Russian leaders.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Putin’s proposal is an attempt to repeat the Crimean scenario. The head of state emphasized that Kyiv will not allow this to happen.
