Poland reveals conditions for shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine
Poland could shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine under one condition: a threat to nuclear power plants, according to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in an interview with BBC.
The head of the Foreign Ministry was asked where Poland's "red lines" are regarding Russia and Ukraine, and whether Warsaw has the right to shoot down Russian missiles in Ukrainian airspace.
He noted that Poland could assist Ukraine to protect nuclear power plants.
"The Chornobyl nuclear accident happened in Ukraine. Imagine if one of Russia's drones or missiles goes off course and flies not to Poland or Romania, as has already happened, but hits one of Ukraine's nuclear power plants. I believe that we should help Ukraine protect its nuclear power plants from such stray Russian missiles," Sikorski said.
The minister emphasized that this is his personal opinion and that legally, Poland would have the right to self-defense, but "no decisions have been made on this."
